Two-warehouse inventory model with deterioration under FIFO dispatching policy

چکیده
In most of the literatures on two-warehouse inventory decision models, the last-in-first-out (LIFO) dispatching policy has always been assumed. This presumption, however, is not in line with the actual practice of most business entities. To enhance the freshness of merchandise or goods, businesses commonly follow the first-in-first-out procedure (FIFO). This inconsistency forms the base and main motivation for our research. In this paper, Pakkala and Achary’s two-warehouse LIFO model is first modified and then a FIFO dispatching two-warehouse model with deterioration is proposed. Comparison of the two models indicated that the FIFO model is less expensive to operate than LIFO, if the mixed effects of deterioration and holding cost in RW are less than that of OW. Finally, numerical examples are provided to investigate and examine the impact that various parameters have on policy choice. 2005 Published by Elsevier B.V.

A note on "Two-warehouse inventory model with deterioration under FIFO dispatch policy"
A recently published paper by Lee [C.C. Lee, Two-warehouse inventory model with deterioration under FIFO dispatching policy, European Journal of Operational Research 174 (2006) 861–873] considers different dispatching models for the two-warehouse inventory system with deteriorating items, in which Pakkala and Achary’s LIFO (last-in–first-out) model [T.P.M. Pakkala, K.K. Achary, A deterministic ...
متن کاملOrdering Policy in a Two- Warehouse Environment for Deteriorating Items under Inflationary Conditions
In this chapter, the two-warehouse inventory problem is considered for deteriorating items with constant demand rate and shortages under inflationary conditions. In today’s unstable global economy, the effects of inflation and time value of money cannot be ignored as it increases the cost of goods. To safeguard from the rising prices, during the inflation regime, the organization prefers to kee...
متن کاملAn EOQ model for non-instantaneous deteriorating items with two levels of storage under trade credit policy
A deterministic inventory model with two levels of storage (own warehouse and rented warehouse) with non-instantaneous deteriorating items is studied. The supplier offers the retailer a trade credit period to settle the amount. Different scenarios based on the deterioration and the trade credit period have been considered. In this article, we have framed two models considering single warehouse ...
متن کاملA credit policy approach in a two-warehouse inventory model for deteriorating items with price- and stock-dependent demand under partial backlogging
Advertisement of the product is an important factor in inventory analysis. Also, price and stock have an important role to attract more customers in the competitive business situations. Trade credit policy is another important role in inventory analysis. We have combined these three factors together in a two-warehouse inventory model and represented it mathematically. In addition, we have added...
متن کاملTwo-Warehouse Inventory Model for Deteriorating Items with Time-Dependent Demand and Partial Backlogging Under Inflation
This paper deals with a two-warehouse inventory model for deteriorating items with time dependent demand and partial backlogging under inflation. It is assumed that deterioration of items follows two-parameter Weibull distribution and demand rate varies exponentially with time. Shortages are allowed and partial backlogging depends on waiting time of next replenishment. A numerical example is pr...
